Your kids can make history with their writing skills

Writing Skills has always played an important role in history. We see and hear about it everywhere. Books, magazines, newspapers and probably just about everything else.

If your kids has good writing abilities they will surely have more doors open for them in the future. Unfortunately, some parents don’t grasp the concept of this and put little effort in actually developing their childrens writing skills.

Kids should start to develop their writing at a very early age. They go through certain stages of writing at specific ages. Between the ages of two to seven are the best learning periods where your teaching is the most effective.

Children start off by enjoying writing randomness, but as time goes on they will learn more about control and will be able to differentiate between writing and drawing due to looking at books and worksheets. It is quite common for young children to not be able to write letters properly.

Typically, when they reach the age of five onwards, kids will start to write in a more organised manner from left to right and include the use of simple puntuation. They would also be able to identify and pronounce words that they have wrote.

The more effective help you give to your kids the better they will understand the aspects of writing.

Techniques to Improve Your Kids Writing Skills

Here are some techniques to get your kids the headstart in their long unwinding journey of writing.

Use Special Lined Paper. These will help your kid to understand how to keep in between the lines and make letters certain sizes. Your kid will not get it straight away, but a few months of practice will show signs of improvement.

Give Examples. Kids will imitate what their parents do, so write some clear letters down and encourage your kids to practice what you have just wrote.

Take it One Step at a Time. Don’t attempt to teach your kids several writing features at one time. For example, stick to either lower case or upper case letters, but not both at the same time as this will most likely confuse them.

Enter your child into writing contests. It will be fun for your kids to have a sense of achievement and it will also make you and your child proud.

Encourage Writing Activities. Things such as writing about a certain subject will be interesting and fun for your kid. Making this a daily routine will be helpful towards your kids creative writing skills.

Alphabet Colouring Pages. Just by looking at the letters and colouring them in will be a fun activity and it will also help your kids memory to identify letters easier.

Find them a Pen Pal. This will be exciting for your children and is a good way of learning communication skills by writing letters.

As time goes on and your kids become more and more involved in writing, it will improve their handwriting skills, structure of sentences, puntuation and story telling skills.

Don’t let bad habits and lack of writing continue as this will be difficult to encourage them to get involved in it at the later stages of their life. Make writing a habit for your kids and many doors will open to them in the future.

As adults, we are always told to keep good time management skills. Around the workplace and in our daily activities, planning heading ensures that things happen smoothly.

The more efficient we make our time, then the greater productivity we would get as a result. This is not a skill required just by adults, but kids will also benefit by knowing and having the basics of timekeeping skills.

Help Your Kids to Use Time Efficiently

Here are some ways you can help your kids time management.

Draw Basic Chart. Encouraging your kids to refer to a chart that displays certain activities each day will help them to understand timekeeping skills a bit better. For example, a certain day of the week might be reading day, so they will know to pack their favourite books.

Providing Student Diary. Tell your kids to jot down important information such as homework and activities and go through this with them every night.

Buy them a kids watch. Give this to your kid as a gift, and teach him/her about the importance of knowing what the time is and planning ahead.

Help them to prioritise tasks. Teach your kids to highlight what work needs to be done first and what ones can be left for a later time.

Measuring Time. Knowing how long you take to do certain things is important as for a lot of people, their minds tend to drift onto other things. Educate your kids about how to stay focused on one task before moving onto another, this enhances kids productivity.

It is easy for kids to spend a lot of time prolonging certain things and playing games. By all means, kids should have fun and enjoy themselves but teaching them about what to do and when is important.

These organizing tips are so simple yet very effective. With your own experiences and guidance, your little ones can be among the league of organised kids.

“The only way to have a friend is to be one.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson on social skills

Take a look at all the successful people in the world today, they all have great social skills. These consists of good communication, problem solving, decision making and peer relations.

Most Kids tend to learn these at a very early age, but some lack the social presence needed in order to lead a successful and happy life.

These skills can be taught and learnt at any age but the earlier, the better and more natural it will be for your kids.

At the end of the day, social skills boils down to basic principles of just knowing and understanding how to co-operate with others under different circumstances.

If you, as parents and adults, guide your kids in the right direction, they will obtain the skills to:

Co-operate with others in various tasks

Build and sustain healthy relationships

Deal with competition in a respectable manner

Manage and cope with strong emotions such as anger and fustration

Learn to respect others in their opinions and beliefs

Learn to solve problems effectively with others and by themselves

It is not uncommon that while a group of kids chat, someone is left out due to the kids shyness or behaviour problems. Perhaps they were never given the right guidance at home or didn’t receive much training from elders.

How Can You Improve Your Kids Social Skills?

You can get your children more involved in society by doing the following.

Playing Social Games. You can find these games on the Internet and in retail outlets. These type of games encourage team work and social interaction, they are also great educational tools.

Communicating. It is absolutely essential that you talk and listen to your kids everyday to understand them and to develop their communication skills.

Provide Instructions. In certain situations, kids need to be given direct instructions on how to respond to people. Greeting, complimenting and advising people are all essential skills one needs in order to gain respect and build friendships with others.

Assisting in Problems. If your kids have problems at school such as bullying, conflict with a friend or rejection, rather than getting directly involved, teach them how they could resolve this properly. This will be a life lesson as they will not have to rely on others in the future.

Controlling Emotions. When your kids are are angry, sad or mad, giving direct instructions such as telling them to “Stop Crying!” isn’t the best method. Instead, try to speak to them about how they feel and explain what you do when you feel like that so they can relate.

A good way to improve your kids social skills is to enroll them into a kids social studies course as they teach a wide range of subjects and topics.

As adults, we are role models and set examples for the young ones to follow. The important thing to always remember is to just be there for your kids because they NEED your positive guidance.

Did you know, developing your kids reading skills will increase their self-esteem?

Due to poor reading skills, many children are the subject of negative effects during their early school years. These effects can be low self esteem, decrease in motivation, embarassment and humiliation.

It is pretty obvious that these things will occur if nothing is done about the childs reading skills. Of course you wouldn’t want your kids in this uncomfortable position otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this, here are some common signs of reading problems and how you could solve them.

Is your kid squinting a lot when reading?
You probably already know the solution to this problem already but many parents don’t see the obvious until it’s too late. If your kid is squinting their eyes attempting to read at a certain distance from their face, then they most probably simply just need reading glasses. Please do seek professional advice from an eyecare specialist, this will make a huge difference in your kids reading skills.

Reading just doesn’t interest your kid?
If this is the case then you might just need to check yourself. If a parent is not a keen reader themselves, then chances are their child would follow in their footsteps if there is no encouragement. Make sure that you read TO and WITH your kid to enable that they get into the habit of reading.

You think you child might have a learning disorder?
This may be the source to your kids reading problems. Many common learning disorders such as Autism, ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia and others does cause setbacks in your kids reading skills. Seek professional advice from educational institutions that offer free learning disorder checks. With the right help at the right time, your child can still reap all the benefits of reading.

Teach Your Kids to Love Reading!

Ok, so your kid likes to read, how do you teach them to absolutely love it!?
The majority of children are easily distracted by toys and games, which there is nothing wrong with that, but there has to be a sense of enjoyment in reading in order to keep them focused.

Here are some helpful tips to get your special kid from just looking at the pictures to actually saying the words.

Kids enjoy being introduced to new books especially one that adds excitement such as cartoon, animal and fairytale books as the stories can be inspirational

It is known that children find speedreading easier than adults, you may want to consider this as there are a lot of courses on the internet that do specialise in this field

Read to and with them on a daily basis and this will instill in them the habit of reading. Also, if your child sees you reading as well, they are more likely to pick up a book and follow along

Let your child use their imagination by talking to them about what could happen after a certain part of a story. It is a fun way for kids to be creative and look forward to more reading

Why dont you take your kids creativity to the next level by having them write a book about something they are interested in? This is a great way to combine imagination, writing and storytelling skills all in one!

Reading bookmarks for kids adds a sense of enjoyment in reading. Buy one for your child or help them make one, so that they can always go back and read where they last left off

Take your kid to reading groups, not only will this be fun for your kids but it will also help them to build their social skills

Explain to your kid all the benefits of reading so they could understand the value of itNo matter how difficult or stressful it can be to get your kids to enjoy reading, always remember to stay positive and keep on encouraging.

Breathe life into your house with books, magazines and newspapers around and your kids will make reading a exciting hobbie! Its just like the great Greek philosopher Marcus Cicero said “A room without books is like a body without a soul”

There are many online safety precautions you should take to prevent your kids from coming in contact with these internet dangers. Not only can they affect your children, but some threats can be potentially harmful to your computer.

This section contains information about what dangers there are online and the internet safety steps to follow to protect your kids and computer.

Keep Your Kids From Danger with these Essential Tips

Here are the main dangers to your children on the Internet and what to do to prevent this from happening.

Cyber Bullying and Stalking - Internet bullying and stalking consists of threats, harassment and psychological ordeal through either an email or chatroom. The results can be very harmful to your kids mind state if nothing is done about it.

Grooming - Internet paedophiles grooming children are not very common but its still vital to take every precaution. They tend to target youngsters on social networking websites and chatrooms as they can pose as whoever they want to be.

Pornography and Illegal Content - It is natural for a child to be curious about certain images and information that can pop up at random places on the Internet. It is quite easy to stumble across this kind of material so it’s essential to monitor your kids activites.

Learn about what your kids do on the internet by asking them what websites he/she goes on and who they chat with.

Tell your children to never give out any personal information to people on the Internet. Explain to them what risks and consequences are involved.

Look out for odd behaviour from your kid. If you notice that your child has lost confidence or is using the Internet for long periods of time, find out why.

Always report abuse to the moderators of chat rooms and any other form of social networking website to increase online safety.

Check the History Folder on a regular basis to see all the websites that has been visited on your computer.

Install parentall software on your computer which allows you to restrict and log activities. You can also do the basics of this by clicking on Internet Options at the top bar.

How to Keep Your Computer Safe

Every now and then a virus is created to attack your computer through emails, pop ups, instant messenger files etc.

Some of them are designed to do annoying things such as causing a program to operate incorrectly while others are designed to corrupting your computers memory which will be devasting.

I’m sure you don’t want your computer to die out causing you to lose all your work all because of a file your kid downloaded.

Not only can this be the fault of the computer user but there are also some computer hackers who break into your computer system to either cause damage or to steal personal information.

This can all be prevented by using a good Internet protection software such as Norton Anti Virus or Mcafee Anti Virus. These are designed to protect your computer from any incoming threats, get rid of any junk thats on your system and they also can block those annoying pop ups.

There are free trial versions which I would recommend to try out several to see which one suits you the best, but its definately worth purchasing the full versions as its not worth taking the risk going without it.

Your kids can obtain a new tongue by playing online language games

There are now a wide variety of online language games available on the internet. These games can either be found on games websites or language sites, and they provide a great opportunity for children to improve their language skills while having fun.

By playing these games, a child can develop his understanding of the English language as well as foreign languages such as Japanese, Mandarin, German, French and many others.

Most websites that offer language games have undergone changes recently because of strong competition. They are no longer only accessible to adults and those who are skilled in using computers.

Their language platforms have created programs that are user friendly so that children can follow simple steps and procedures to enable them to play the games easily, quickly improving their language skills.

Sometimes, a site will feature a backdrop that has different interesting themes, such as nature, pets and cartoon characters, so that the kids will be more interested in participating in the games.

What Websites Offer Language Games?

Usually, a language game will expose a child to a variety of words that are jumbled up. The child’s ability to identify different parts of speech and the different parts of sentences is put to the test.

I have found the following websites to be very effective in developing a kids language skills.

Apples 4 the Teacher
Kaboose
Language Games

These games are not only fun to play, they are also very effective in helping children improve their language skills. Many kids can interact with each other to play one particular language game because language platform sites feature online competition.

Even parents can play them with their children during their free time. If your kid beats you in a language game, you can at least be certain that the interactive language game that he plays is helping make some headway in his language development.

Poor listening skills is a major contribution to the growing amount of social problem amongst kids these days. Some kids just don’t and won’t listen to good advice because they are not interested in hearing it.

I’m not trying to come across as a preacher but the fact is, this needs to change. You as a parent or teacher can change this, but i’m also backing you up on this one.

How to Improve Your Kids Listening Skills

Lets take a look on how your kids listening abilities can be improved effectively.

Ask Questions. Talk to your child about anything that is interesting and fun in general. Show them that you are listening actively to them by responding to what they are sayin. This will also prompt them to do the same when you are talking.

Keep Eye Contact. This will show your kid that you are interested in what they have to say and they will show interest in what you will have to say. Not looking at your kid direct in the eye will make it seem like you are not interested or ignoring them.

Do NOT cut them off. This is a big NO NO as i’m sure you know how it feels to be stopped midway through a sentence. Doing this might make your child think that this is acceptable which will cause problems later on in their lives.

Be Patient. In order to teach good listening skills you also have to be a good listener. A kids vocabulary is not as good as an adults, so they will take their time to find the correct word. Hear them out and help them, this will help them to also listen to others and understand problem solving.

Read books to your kid. Try not to have too many distractions around when reading to them. Ask interesting questions about the book such as “what is going to happen next?”. This will encourage them to listen as well as use their imagination.

Explain WHY listening is important. This will help your kid to understand better of why listening to people and the nature of taking turns in communication is polite.

Put on childrens songs or audiobooks. You can download kids music off the internet which provides good education and is also fun. Again, listen along and talk to your child about the song.

Be sure to go through these listening exercises on a daily basis. It can be annoying and fustrating dealing with child discipline but when your kid doesn’t listen, simply telling them to “Listen!” won’t help. You need to help your kid to understand the value of listening and set a good example by being a good listener yourself. Many parents barely put any effort into their kids listening skills which contributes to a kids bad behaviour. With these tips and your persistance, your kid WILL grow smarter and wiser.

While learning subjects in school can be fun, it doesn’t have to stop there. All parents should encourage their kids to learn at home or enroll them in kids courses to instil the consistency and habit of gaining knowledge.

I say this because it will help your children to have a better idea of what they want to pursue in the future. One of the childrens topics will spark an interest in them and maybe they could go onto being a leading scientist, accountant or author.

This section contains information on why kids should know about learning subjects and how this will help them in the future.

The most dominant international spoken word is the English language. That fact alone is a good enough reason why it is a benefit for kids all around the world to learn to speak it.

Some of the most famous literature was written in English by writers that were not necessarily from England. Both the language and literature is just as important as the other. Find out why…

A lot of adults think numbers are boring, but as a kid, it can be fun!. It is also essential to be good at Maths to be able to lead a successful career.

It is a subject that is used in everyones daily activities, and those that understand it are more likely to be financially stable. Begin to get the numbers rolling in your kids brain now!.

Get your kids brain juices flowing with science. Teaching this school lesson to your children will help kick start their creativity then maybe in the future, they will contribute their ideas and change the world for the better. Let your kids discover something new today.

You don’t really know where mankind stands until you know where its been. Teach your kids about History as some of the most important events of mankind has happened in the past. Explain to them how the past has helped shape the way that the world is today.

Your kids will surely be intrigued about the way Earth is, what kid wouldn’t be interested?. Ok, there may be a small exception, but generally the Earth is quite a fascinating subject for the children.

It also comes of great benefit if they decide that they want to travel around the globe. It is definately a kids subject not to be avoided.
